Connecting from behind a proxy server |
|
Hello,
I'm trying to run the game and am connected to the internet through a university network (which has certain ports blocked). The autoupdater reports that the update fails, and the game does not run. Is this problem because of my connection through the university network?
Cheers

Hi,
I'm afraid it is. There is currently no proxy support for the auto-updater (Maybe this feature will be implemented sometime in the future). As for the game itself, it also needs to be able to open certain ports to gameservers - so the question is if your university allows you to connect to a gameserver...
Greetings,
charlie

I guessed that would be the case. Tis not at all a fault on your part - I couldn't play Half Life 2 for a while because I couldn't connect to Steam - had to go to someone's house five miles away to register the game! I shall wait until the summer before playing then. I'm mostly interested as the game is done in Java and I have an interest in using Java for games programming
Thanks for the quick reply!
